Music is in MLC School’s DNA

Music enriches the lives of all MLC School students, and the program is inclusive and open to all. Three MLC School Old Girls are currently studying music at The Juilliard School of Music in New York.

There are many co-curricular performance opportunities available at the School through instrumental soirees, festivals, studio concerts, graduation concerts, assemblies, and major events such as the biennial Sydney Opera House Concert and annual Sydney Town Hall concert.

Music scholarship students are required to participate in the elective music program from Year 9 to Year 12. This is an integrated course of individual performance, ensemble performance, study of musicology, aural development, and composition. Successful Music Scholarship applicants will also be required to participate in the core music ensembles and the required music performances throughout the year.

The School has a rich musical tradition and is a recognised leader in Australian music education. Over many years, MLC School’s music program has been recognised with national awards for embracing innovation and excellence.
