Inner westies rejoice! We can now head to Concord for a spot of ocean swimming. Kind of.
The Bayview Park swim site in Concord officially re-opened in early November, having been closed since 1969. Located on the Parramatta River (so not quite the ocean!), its re-opening is part of an initiative being run by the Parramatta River Catchment Group and Sydney Water to improve water quality and bring swimming back to this waterway.
The baths are located in Bayview Park and include a fully netted swimming area. Water quality forecasts are published daily on this interactive map: https://www.ourlivingriver.com.au/things-to-do/interactive-map/existing-swimming-sites/bayview-park
Facilities at the park include a playground, picnic tables, toilets, an outdoor shower and barbecues with more to come. Canada Bay Council is currently working on upgrades to the site, including installing a new shower, as well as a bush tucker garden, more parking and picnic areas. This work is due for completion in February 2023. New changerooms are planned for a future upgrade too.
