Many of the local pubs have strong ties to the historic ship building industry including The Dry Dock Hotel and The Royal Oak. The Royal Oak particularly is well known for its excellent food and craft beers. Birchgrove has the beautiful Louisa Road that has absolute waterfront homes on both sides of the street, with one side looking towards Cockatoo Island & the other towards the Harbour Bridge. ย
Birchgrove is serviced by a ferry from the Birchgrove Wharf, but there is also a city bus that departs from the bottom of Grove Street.
