Australia’s oldest parliament is opening its doors for a fun-filled Festival of Democracy – a jam-packed day of discovery, learning, and hands-on activities for young citizens across the state.
This exciting open day is designed for children aged five to 12 years and their parents or carers, offering free, interactive and educational experiences that bring democracy to life.

⏰ Time: 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM
This one-day-only public event will be held on Tuesday 15 April, the first Tuesday of the NSW school holidays, running from 9:30am to 3:00pm.

🏛️ Step inside history with guided chamber tours
🎨 Get creative in arts and crafts workshops
🎬 Go behind the scenes with special video screenings and learn about how laws are made
🎭 Travel through time with historical character actors and storytelling
🎙️ Take to the floor in a mock committee hearing
🗳️ Learn about voting with the NSW Electoral Commission
⚖️ Engage with the role of Legal Aid in assisting NSW citizens
A ticket is required for each person over four years old who is attending and children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. To register, click on 'Get Tickets' then select the number of adults. Scroll down to add child tickets.
