Just one skin check could save your life so South Eveleigh is proudly partnering with non-profit charity Skin Check Champions to help improve access and awareness for the early detection of skin cancer by providing onsite skin checks from 5-9 February from 9am - 5pm. The event will take place at the Skin Champions pop-up Location in WorkClub Locomotive (Locomotive Bays 5-7, 2 Locomotive Street, Eveleigh 2015). Each booking costs $30.

Skin cancer is known as our 'national cancer' and is likely to affect 2 in 3 Australians in their lifetime. It's a harsh reality we all have to be aware of but in 98% of cases, skin cancer can be successfully treated if detected early*, which is exactly what this partnership is all about.

The initiative offers those who live and work in the area the opportunity to have an educational, full-body skin check with a qualified nurse dermoscopist for a fraction of the normal cost, which can be in the vicinity of $250.

More information about the pop-up and the booking link can be found here. Bookings are essential and those interested are encouraged to book as soon as possible as these sessions book out quickly. More information on the importance of skin checks can be found here.

Daily protection via sunscreen and regular skin checks are an essential part of maintaining your skin's health and catching skin cancers early when they are most treatable. Outside of the pop-up, skin checks are available to book on a regular basis at Myhealth South Eveleigh and for daily sunscreen needs head to Priceline at South Eveleigh for a wide range of products.

About Skin Check Champions

Skin Check Champions is an Australian non-profit charity on a mission to improve access and awareness for the early detection of skin cancer. They do this by raising awareness for – and access too early detection services, especially for communities most at risk of skin cancer. Connecting them to their local GP, Skin Clinic or Dermatologist – or bringing specialists to the people via our free, educational pop-up skin check clinics. Powered by world class technology and talent to find skin cancer before it becomes deadly. To date Skin Check Champions have provided over 8,850 free, educational skin checks via their pop-up clinics, resulting in $42 million in healthcare savings.

Skin Check Champions has grown considerably from a discussion between friends back in 2010 following the tragic death of Wes Bonny. Much of what we are today is due to the dogged determination of its founder Scott Maggs – formerly known as Jimmy Niggles Esq. To hear more about his story, expertise and impact, feel free to reach out. He’d be honoured to chat with you.
