About the Lecture
One of the greatest gifts we can give our children is emotional resilience – the power to "ride through" adversity. But how can we help children cultivate skills in this area to build grit and tenacity, confidence and self-esteem and overall good mental health? Clinical psychologist Marina Bailey has more than 25 years' experience working in schools to build emotional resilience, so that children can transition into future school settings with ease and better manage the normal ups and downs of life inside and outside school. Designed especially for parents of Primary-aged children, this lecture will highlight the skills associated with resilience and the importance of building strong, secure child/parent connections, social and emotional skills and having opportunities to practice and strengthen these skills so they act as protective factors later in life. It will also cover screen time and managing downtime.
