Sydney Ceramics Market 2023 is set to present handmade works by over 90 artists and makers from across Sydney and NSW at the historic Carriageworks in Eveleigh.
In its second year, this one-day must-attend event gives you the opportunity to meet, support and shop from a community of local ceramicists, potters, artists and makers who celebrate the potential of clay in all its wonderful forms.
Supported by Australian Design Centre as a major event in the Sydney Craft Week festival program, alongside venue partner Carriageworks, Sydney Ceramics Market 2023 will present a range of stalls, as well as wheel-throwing demonstrations, a speaker event, and a curated exhibition area.
Sydney’s ceramic scene has been growing steadily over the last two decades — with a new renaissance of artists and makers creating exciting and dynamic clay-based works. At Sydney Ceramics Market 2023, you’ll find a mix of beautiful tableware for everyday use and unique sculptural art pieces for sale, all handmade and direct from the maker.
After a successful debut in 2022 at Sydney’s Tramsheds, this year’s market is set to uncover more emerging talent, with some makers not yet selling online, as well as hosting independent practitioners with decades of experience and some who are known to sell out in 10 minutes flat.
The initiative was brought together by founders & friends Melody Brunton, ceramicist behind Emi Ceramics, and Samee Lapham, Photographer & Comms Producer, in the hopes of showcasing the creative talents within the ceramic craft discipline across Sydney and NSW. Melody and Samee were inspired to create Sydney Ceramics Market to uplift the makers behind the wide range of incredible ceramic work they’ve fallen in love with.
The line-up includes ceramics from the likes of Milly Dent, Public Holiday, Gabby Malpas, Sooty Welsh, Voluptuary Ceramics, catbirddog ceramics, Casa Adams Fine Wares, Trade the Mark, Albatross Ceramic, and a group showing from Kil.n.it Experimental Ceramics Studio, to name a few.
