Description

National Walk Safely to School Day (WSTSD) will take place on Friday, 16 May 2025, marking its 26th year. Anyone across Australia can participate and this initiative, led by the Pedestrian Council of Australia, encourages primary school children to walk and commute safely to school while promoting road safety, health, public transport, and environmental awareness.

The event is designed not just for one day but to encourage a lifelong habit of active travel, benefiting children's physical health, cognitive development, and social skills. Schools, parents, and caregivers are urged to participate by walking with children or organising local events. Activities such as dress-up walks, safety games, and environmental challenges can make the day more engaging.
