MLC School celebrates 2021 results

MLC School is celebrating the results of its 2021 students in the International Baccalaureate and Higher School Certificate.

MLC School girls achieve at an impressive level in any year, yet these results happened at a time where their learning was affected for their final two years by Covid restrictions and lockdown.

MLC School was one of the earliest in NSW to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme to all students in Year 11 and Year 12 as an alternative to the Higher School Certificate (HSC).

Both the HSC and IB Diploma provide an academic pathway to tertiary education around Australia and internationally. The IB Diploma Programme is suitable for those who enjoy a broad range of subjects, while the HSC suits those who wish to specialise in a particular field of study (a number of science or history units, for example).

MLC School provides an extensive subject selection process for all students in Year 10. This assists families to make the choice that is right for their daughter and her future.

International Baccalaureate results

MLC School was named the Top IB School in Australia and a Top 50 IB Global School in 2020.

In 2021, MLC School’s Year 12 IB cohort once again achieved at a high level internationally, with 12 students – nearly 25 per cent of the cohort – receiving the top score of 45. This equates to an ATAR of 99.95. The school believes this is the most 45s awarded to a school in Australia in IB History.

HSC results

Around 60 per cent of MLC School’s Year 12 students sat for the HSC in 2021.  MLC School students achieved state rankings (being placed in the Top 10) in the
following five subjects:  Ancient History (1st in the state), Dutch Continuers (2nd in state), Indonesian Extension (2nd in state), Entertainment (3rd in state), Visual Arts (3rd in state) and Music Extension (5th in state).

Girls were nominated and accepted into the showcase events in Drama, Visual Arts, Music, Textiles and Design.

In addition, 54 per cent of the cohort achieved a Band 6 in at least 1 subject.

The median ATAR across all MLC School students was 94.30.
