Tiny and exclusive are the two adjectives that spring to mind when describing Rodd Point. The suburb itself consists of only 12 streets and is tucked away between Five Dock and Russell Lea and looks out over the Iron Cove.
Rodd Point is home to the Dobroyd Aquatic Centre which hosts a variety of sailing and aquatic past times. The aquatic centre was first founded in 1937 as more and more Sydney-siders started to enjoy leisure time on and in the water. Its original site was near the Haberfield Rowing Club and the first clubhouse was later built at the mouth of the Hawthorne Canal. In 1962 the Department of Main Roads took over the site to build the current bridge that runs over Hawthorne Canal, the club then moved to its current location in Rodd Park and the clubhouse was rebuilt at this location. Sadly fire devastated the clubhouse in 2005, but happily it was successfully rebuilt with the assistance of Canada Bay council in whose municipality Rodd Point and the clubhouse lies.
Rodd Point is a tightly-held suburb with on average on 1 or 2 houses sold each month. The suburb has no apartments and housing is typically made up of classic federation properties many of which have been renovated for todayβs contemporary living.

Rodd Park has a small collection of shops on First Avenue consisting of a small grocery store, a pharmacy, beautician, hairdressers and takeaway pizza.Β If you fancy a coffee then stop in at the cafΓ© at Nield Park conveniently located on the Bay Run. If you need something more substantial then Rodd Point is just a short drive from Haberfieldβs many shops, cafes and restaurants. Or even more substantial shops can be found at either nearby Drummoyne or Leichhardt where you can find the major supermarket chains and more boutique retailers. And if you are heading to the city no need to take the car as Rodd Point has a regular bus service.
Rodd Point falls along the famous Bay Run, where you can run, walk, cycle or push the kids in the pram along on beautiful 7km loop around Iron Cove. If you need to put your feet up for awhile then where better than Rodd Park, not only home to the Dobroyd Aquatic Centre but a lovely park what has BBQβs and picnic tables with nearby toilet facilities. And if youβre planning a function you might like to have a peek inside the clubhouse whose hall is available for function hire and is quite popular due to its glorious view of the bay.
