It’s a Thursday afternoon. I’m sitting in the hairdressers waiting for my colour to set and my toes start getting a little chilly. As someone who cannot bear cold feet, I’ve come prepared. I whip off my Birkenstocks and on go the pair of Joode socks I’ve squirrelled away in my bag in anticipation of this occurrence (yes, I am that person!). I pad to the hair washing basins to have my colour removed and the salon manager walks past, “I love your socks!”.
It’s the first time I’ve ever had a compliment about my socks. To be honest, there isn’t much to say about my preferred black utilitarian cotton socks! But I may well be a convert.
Joode is the passion project of former Inner West Mum (these days she’s a Melburnian) Sarah Willmott, a self-confessed sock lover who started up her own label when the sock supplier for her care package business closed and she couldn’t find a suitable replacement. Her wish list? Bright socks. Happy socks. Socks to make you smile (and others too – they were originally designed to give as gifts). But which are comfortable and durable too.
Her socks are made primarily from Turkish 200 thread premium combed cotton (plus some elastine for stretch and polimide for durability) in bright colours and fun designs. Think polkadots, seagulls, strawberries, cats and rainbows. And even better for a big-footed gal like myself, they come in two sizes, 36-40 and 41-46. Joode makes a men’s range too, in the same sizings.
The socks are available to purchase individually for $16.95 or in a four pack bundle for $59.
Visit https://joode.co/ to check out the range.
Joode socks were roadtested by Sarah, head content wrangler at Inner West Mums, proud inner westie and mum of two.
