It’s fenced, it has a covered deck, there’s toilets AND parking. Not to mention an obstacle course, fort and bike/scooter track.
The Forest at Bridge Road School could well be one of the inner west’s best kept kids’ party secrets. It’s definitely one to have up your sleeve if this rain continues but would be a fantastic venue in warmer weather with lots of space and equipment for kids to explore, plus the option of barbecue hire.
What is it?
Bridge Rd School is a short-stay primary school offering an “intensive, specialised behavioural intervention program for young children”. In the absence of a P&C, the school fundraises by hiring out the forest on weekends.
The space is fully fenced and facilities include a covered deck which can accommodate around 50 people, a wooden fort and obstacle course, picnic tables and a small, paved bike track. Guests will have use of the 18-space school car park and the school’s visitor toilets. A barbecue can be hired for an additional fee.
It’s a great space for kids to explore and play, with the fort a natural focus point for group adventures.
Where is it?
The Forest is located at the back of the Camperdown Oval playground and tennis courts and is close to Camperdown Commons. Access is via Victory Lane, just behind Kidstuff on Mallett Street. This includes those on foot or a bike, as well as in a car. Someone will need to be stationed near the gates to let guests in.
How much?
The Forest can be hired for $350. This covers access from 9am to 7pm. Barbecue hire is an additional $50. A cash deposit of $50 is also required when picking up the key. This is refunded when the key is returned.
