Sewer Surgeon

Sewer Surgeon is a family-run plumbing and drainage business based in Forest Lodge, working across the Inner West of Sydney and nowhere else.

That focus is deliberate. Almost every terrace and semi in these suburbs was plumbed with vitrified clay sewer pipe — durable material, but laid in short sections with a joint roughly every metre. The figs, jacarandas and camphor laurels the Inner West is known for send roots hunting for moisture, and they find those joints. Once roots are inside the pipe they catch everything passing through, and that becomes the blockage.

It's the most common serious drainage fault in this housing stock, and after years of working nothing but these streets we generally know what a home on your road is likely to have wrong with it before we arrive.

WHAT WE DO

Blocked drains — cleared using jet blasting and electric eel, with the cause identified rather than just the symptom.

CCTV drain camera inspections — you see the footage and get a written report. Useful before buying, before selling, before renovating, or when a drain keeps blocking.

Tree root removal — roots cut out mechanically, the line camera-inspected to find where they entered, and a permanent fix quoted.

Pipe relining — dig and no-dig repair. A resin liner is cured inside the existing pipe, forming a seamless root-resistant pipe within the old one. No excavation, and a design life of around 50 years.

We also handle burst pipe repair, leaking taps and toilets, hot water systems, gas fitting, water filtration, rainwater tanks and backflow prevention. We work with homeowners, strata and real estate agents.
