For one day only, Afro Eats & Beats is taking over Paddy's Flemington on Sunday 24 May to mark Africa Day.

It's a free, all-ages event running 9am–4:30pm. The day is built around African food stalls, think jollof rice, suya skewers, fufu, slow-cooked stews - alongside a rotating program of live music, traditional performances, and African fashion and craft vendors.

What’s On:

  • Authentic African Food Stalls, experience flavours from across the continent from rich slow-cooked stews and fufu to jollof rice and suya skewers
  • Live Band & DJ, feel the energy with live acoustic sets, and a DJ bringing high-energy Afro-beats
  • Traditional African Music, Dance, & Retail, browse vibrant African fashion and handcrafted goods, experience the artistry of traditional hair braiding, and enjoy traditional dance performances
  • African Cuisine Cooking Demonstrations, Watch and learn the techniques and stories behind authentic African dishes.

Timings:

9:00am–4:00pm – MC, music & karaoke
10:00–11:00am – African Dance Workshop
11:00am–1:00pm – Live Band
1:00–3:00pm – DJ Set

There's also a free jumping castle, giveaways, and kids activities throughout the day.
