Description

Little musicians aged 3–6 and their grown-ups are invited to a free taster of Me & My Violin: First Steps, a playful new introduction to violin and classical music for preschoolers.

This isn’t your typical music class. Through interactive games and activities, children learn real violin-readiness skills, like standing tall, nimble fingers and bow control. Then they dance and imagine along to classical music. Is it pirates? Fairies? Busy bees? No violin is needed, and all equipment is provided.

The session is led by Petersham local Jane Cormack, a violinist and teacher who has been playing since she was four and teaching children since she was 16. Her program is designed to spark an early love of music before formal lessons, so children feel excited and confident when they’re ready to start.

Parents, grandparents and carers are all welcome to join in, making it a lovely outing for grandparent days too.

These free taster sessions on Thursday 22 Oct and Friday 23 Oct are a preview of the 8-week term program, which runs on Wednesday mornings from 28 October. Places are limited, so bookings are essential.
