Description
An ancient Marrickville wetland is returning to life, and locals are invited to celebrate its official opening this weekend.
Head to Mackey Park on Sunday 12 July for a free community celebration marking the completion of the restored Gumbramorra Wetlands.
The landmark project has restored part of the historically significant Gumbramorra Swamp, creating a multi-pond wetland designed to provide habitat for native plants and wildlife, improve local biodiversity and help manage flooding in the surrounding area.
It’s a lovely opportunity for families to explore a newly transformed corner of the Inner West, learn more about the area’s natural history and celebrate the return of this important local ecosystem.
