Spring School Holidays just got a serious upgrade at Darling Harbour!

From 26 September to 11 October 2026, families can spend the holidays building, discovering and playing together across a program packed with free games, activities and adventures for kids of every age.

Leading the charge is the debut of Big Ideas Factory at Tumbalong Park. A brand new and free, hands-on STEM program for curious minds that mixes science, robotics, construction and sculpture-making with giant lawn games and a roaming humanoid robot. It's just the beginning of a jam-packed program with something for every age and interest.

Big Ideas Factory
Tumbalong Park, Saturday 3rd  - Sunday 4th October - FREE
Making its debut these school holidays, this free outdoor program brings STEM to life for curious kids. Drop into Science Storytime for experiments, build in the Creative Construction Zone, or program an Edison robot in the Robotics Lab. Help build a recycled-materials replica of Pyrmont Bridge with Reverse Garbage, meet a roaming humanoid robot, and enjoy giant lawn games — most activities are drop-in and self-paced. Stay after for family movie screenings: The Lego Movie at 3.30pm and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs at 7pm.

Darling Square Moon Festival
19 September - 4 October - FREE
Celebrate the Moon Festival at Darling Square, a significant celebration across many Asian cultures. Darling Square will come alive with an illuminated lantern installation, live music every Friday and Saturday, free lantern-decorating and dance workshops, and appearances from Emperor Guan and Chang’e, the Moon Goddess, inviting families to experience and enjoy these rich cultural traditions together.

Chinese Garden of Friendship 
28 September – 9 October, 11am-1pm weekdays – FREE
Little Green thumbs can get crafty at the Chinese Garden of Friendship, decorating and assembling their own miniature Chinese Garden to take home in a fun 3D model.

Little Chef at Darling Quarter
Darling Quarter, 3 - 11 October - FREE (ages 6-12)
A free, hands-on cooking program for budding chefs, with kids cooking alongside Darling Quarter's favourite retailers and a special guest appearance from young chef and entrepreneur Morgan Hipworth.
