Caterpillar Lane: An Exciting New Interactive Playspace at Harbourside, Darling Harbour

Retail centre Harbourside, Darling Harbour has just opened an exciting new interactive play area called Caterpillar Lane! Located on level 2 of the centre, the play area, which is 40 metres in length, offers plenty of space for energetic kids to let loose and opportunities to learn and engage in any weather.
A far cry from traditional retail centre playspaces, Caterpillar Lane has a range of enticing equipment for children aged 1–8 years, including soft play, climbing towers, slides, as well as interactive panels and light projection games.

The Caterpillar Lane playspace has been separated into three parts of an appealing giant rainbow caterpillar. At the caterpillar’s head, children aged 4–8 can explore a soft play structure, with a spider bungee, triangle deck clin, jumbo slide and appealing interactive panels. Next is the caterpillar’s body – a colourful arch with light projections and four touch screens – providing fun for kids between 1 and 8 years. The caterpillar’s tail is for children aged 1-4 years, and has six interactive panels, a safari play car, a butterfly slide, triangle deck, spider bungee and more.

In between the caterpillar’s head, body and tail is ottoman furniture for parents to relax and watch on as their kids play. The play area also has anti-slip flooring and shoe storage.
The Harbourside centre stretches across the Darling Harbour waterfront. Set on three levels, the family-friendly centre has more than 25 dining options as well as various local and international retailers and other amenities. There is also free wi-fi. Parents rooms are on levels 1 and 2 of the centre.

Harbourside is a short walk from Town Hall station (exit south into Bathurst Street). It can also be accessed easily by light rail to Pyrmont Bay. Refer to Transport NSW for trip planning and up-to-date service information.
For those driving, the Harbourside Car Park is located on Murray Street, Pyrmont under the Novotel and linked by a covered footbridge to the shopping centre. Customers who spend $40 or more on shopping or dining can show their receipt at the information desk before 9 pm for a discount on parking.
Harbourside is owned by Mirvac. In 2017, Inner West Mums formed a partnership with Mirvac. In May Tramsheds, another Mirvac centre, in the historic Rozelle Tram Depot at Forest Lodge, hosted 20 Inner West Mums for a special Mother’s Day dinner.
Location: Harbourside, Suite 231, 2-10 Darling Drive, Darling Harbour
