Another long weekend is on the horizon (yay) and this time we have the extra joy of the Easter festivities to add into the mix. Whilst not all families observe Easter as a religious celebration, many enjoy the fun of egg hunts, giving and receiving chocolates, getting together with family and friends, not to mention a four-day weekend. Whether you have ankle biters or angsty teens, want something footloose and free, or prefer a planned event, we’ve got you covered in our Ultimate Guide to Easter Activities the whole family will enjoy.
Sydney’s largest park will play host to Alice in Easterland – a theatrical twist to the beloved children’s classic, Alice in Wonderland – presented by the Eaton Gorge Theatre Company. Little ones (kids aged from 4 years and up) can join Alice on an adventure as she helps the Mad Hatter find his Easter bonnet and deals with the Queen of Hearts. Got kids that love craft? There’s Easter bonnet decorating, a chocolate treat to enjoy and a small parade at the end to showcase their crafty creations.

We’re blessed with a plethora of waterfront hotels, AirBnB shacks and urban retreats across our dazzling city. If you’d love a getaway but can’t stand the thought of spending hours in the car whilst the kids squabble in the back (think “are we there yet? why isn’t there any wi-fi?” on repeat), why not hit up a family-friendly hotel instead? Over the Easter long weekend, hotels across the harbour city will be hosting Easter themed events, family friendly activities (think movie nights, family trivia and quizzes) and special culinary feasts to make your Easter staycation even more memorable. And with many offering in-house kids activity rooms – many with included snacks, games and toys – a staycation might be just the break for you and the family.
