Getting to Know … Simone Azzi of Belle Property

‘Keep calm and call Simone – she’s hardworking, diligent, intelligent, compassionate and understanding’ – wonderful words from a recent client I came across as I researched and then interviewed Simone Azzi of Belle Property. A real estate agent with more than 14 years’ experience selling homes in the Inner West, Simone cares deeply about her clients and her work, and clearly it shows. She is also passionate about giving back to the community, actively supporting several charitable causes, and a super busy mum of two.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I am a mother to two gorgeous children, wife, real estate agent, small business owner and budding philanthropist. My daughter Layla is six years old and son Anthony, two. My wonderful husband Ziggy and I have been married for ten years. As a real estate agent, I have been servicing the Inner West for more than 14 years and have proudly been with Belle Property for ten of those years.

What are you passionate about?

Besides my beautiful family, I have a huge passion for helping people and run a number of give-back events throughout the year through The Passion Project which I established in 2016. My biggest annual event is The Big Christmas feed for approximately 200 of the Sydney CBD’s rough sleepers and homeless community. I have also had the pleasure of being involved with the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse after hosting the Strike Cancer Out event last year which raised more than $11,000 for Lifehouse. Like so many people, I have had several friends, family members and clients who’ve been affected by cancer so really felt motivated to make a difference and show my support.

Why did you decide to go into real estate?

When I was growing up, I used to attend the in-room auctions in Double Bay with my father. I just loved the exciting atmosphere and buzz in the room and instantly knew I wanted to get involved. Our family business was in car sales, and although I started my sales career in that industry, I realised quite quickly that cars weren’t for me.

As a real estate agent, what makes you different?

I think I bring quite a different perspective and approach to real estate. I truly believe I’m in the people and property business. My job requires me to be a marketing expert to make sure we get the right buyer to the door before we can even begin to negotiate on price. I am always improving my skills and keeping up to date on the latest technology to make sure my clients are positioned ahead of the rest. My approach revolves around brand, a strong digital strategy, the widest reach, high-impact marketing and more.

What makes me stand out is that I genuinely care about my clients. I provide honest and realistic advice. I have the same worries, fears and struggles as my clients and can truly appreciate that buying and/or selling a property can mean that huge life decisions need to be made. I feel honoured to be involved in this journey with my clients.

What services do you offer that we may not know about?

I offer a full suite of real estate services. One aspect of my work that people may not know about is that together with my team, I can help prepare your home for sale and manage the process for an easy, stress-free experience. This service is particularly popular among time-poor professionals and families. We have a full crew ready to paint, replace fences, carpet, sand floors, landscape the gardens and so much more. I also have an in-house stylist who can assist in styling the home ready to launch to market.

What can your clients expect from you?

Honesty, professionalism, realistic advice and a tough negotiator. Each and every client is incredibly important, so my number-one goal always is to deliver on the promises I make. Many of my clients are Inner West Mums, and as a mum myself, I feel I can genuinely relate to their concerns, experiences and goals.

What do you enjoy most about working with your clients?

The journey! How can I help them move from this stage in their lives onto the next in the best possible way? I always aim to exceed expectations. For me, creating raving fans is truly the best advertising I can possibly do! I try to ensure every client walks away feeling like I did the best possible job for them. And I love to look back and feel proud of the results I have achieved.

Best piece of advice you can offer to someone who is wanting to sell right now?

Use social media and recommendations online or via friends to narrow down which agents you want to speak to. Interview a few agents. Pick the one who you feel a connection with. Trust your gut. This is a big transaction you are about to enter and selecting the agent with the most sales in the area or highest price doesn’t necessarily mean they will deliver what you need.

Favourite places in the Inner West?

Having lived and worked in the Inner West for many years, I feel strongly connected with this community. I love the village atmosphere of Balmain, Rozelle, Leichhardt and so on.

I also believe it’s important to support local businesses, and I try to ‘share the love’ among these. A few personal favourites are Corner Booth, Annandale for gifts; Trafalgar St Espresso, also in Annandale, for coffee, The Royal in Leichhardt (who doesn’t love a gastro pub?), Health Space Rozelle for some ‘me’ time and Cocobelle Beauty in Croydon for my beauty essentials.
