The updated Wangal Nura Park, Leichhardt

Inner West Council recently unveiled the new Wangal Nura Park, on Flood Street, Leichhardt, part of a series of parks and playgrounds to receive updates across the area.

The name of the park, which translates to ‘People Place’, honours the Wangal people of the area who are the traditional owners of the land on which the park is situated.

The fully fenced playground features fresh, bright all-new equipment and play spaces.

The equipment includes a roundabout, a bouncy see-saw, a climbing net, a large play structure incorporating further climbing elements and three slides and three swings with a nest-style one.

A side play area consists of various wooden and sandstone balancing elements.

There is also a small court with netball and basketball hoops.

Wangal Nura Park can be reached by the 437, 438 or 445 bus via Marion Street.

For the parents, good coffee is within easy reach: the nearest cafes can be found a short stroll away on Marion Street and include Organica at Leichhardt Marketplace and Wayne’s Place.
