In the most challenging year, itβs heartening to know that hard work and resilience can still shine through. The students of MLC School are the proof and the excellent results that they achieved in 2020, were beyond all expectations.
MLC School, located in Burwood, was one of the earliest in NSW to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme to all students in Year 11 and Year 12 as an alternative to the HSC. In 2020, the MLC School was named the Top IB School in Australia and appeared in the Top 50 IB Global Schools β ranked 32ndΒ in the world.
Despite the prevailing restrictions and uncertainty of the pandemic, seven students received a perfect IB score of 45, being an ATAR equivalent of 99.95. Over 72% of MLCβs IB candidates, achieved an ATAR equivalent of 95 or over βΒ a supremely excellent outcome.
Charlie KairaitisΒ achieved an ATAR of 99.95,Β 1 of only 15 girlsΒ in NSW to achieve a perfect rank! Charlie also received the Chancellor’s Award from The University of Sydney.
βOur girls were undaunted in their focus to carry on with as many things they could within the confines of the prevailing restrictions. They did this with grace and good humour, without ever bemoaning the lot that they had been handed.β said MLC School Principal, Lisa Moloney.
She added that βHaving been witness to this, gives the School great confidence that our future is in excellent hands. There is no doubt that these remarkable young women truly reflected the resilience, adaptability and genuine spirit to βdare to be moreβ that our School always endeavours to build within our students.β
