The best Halloween streets, neighbourhood hotspots and family-friendly events across the Inner West, Canterbury-Bankstown and Canada Bay.

Halloween is creeping up, and if your little ghosts, witches and vampires are already planning their costumes (and calculating how many lollies they can collect), it’s time to work out where to take them trick-or-treating.

Halloween falls on Saturday 31 October 2026, which means no racing home from school, squeezing into costumes or rushing out before bedtime. This year, families can make a whole afternoon or evening of it.

From the famously festive streets of Annandale and Drummoyne to organised Halloween celebrations in Concord, Marrickville, Summer Hill and Newtown, there’s plenty happening in and around Sydney’s Inner West.

We’ve rounded up the local streets worth exploring, along with some fantastic family-friendly Halloween events for those who prefer their spooky fun a little more organised.

And for families with younger children, we’ve included some daytime options so the little ones can join in without staying up past bedtime.

🎃 A quick note before you head out: Our street recommendations are based on locations shared by local families in previous years. Halloween participation can change from year to year, and not every house on a listed street will be involved. We recommend checking for decorations beforehand and only approaching homes that are clearly welcoming trick-or-treaters.

🧙 A Few Tips for a Happy Halloween

Whether it’s your child’s first Halloween or they’re a seasoned trick-or-treater, a little planning will make the evening much more enjoyable.

  • Start earlier with younger children. Late afternoon or early evening is often easier for little ones, especially if they find crowds or frightening decorations overwhelming.
  • Stick to participating houses. Decorated homes, welcoming signs and residents handing out treats are good indicators. If a house is dark or clearly not participating, move along.
  • Bring a torch or wear something reflective. Especially important as the evening gets darker.
  • Stay together and watch the roads. Halloween can attract large crowds, particularly around popular neighbourhood hotspots.
  • Bring water and comfortable shoes. Halloween often involves more walking than anyone anticipates!
  • Be considerate. Take one treat unless invited to take more, and remind children to respect people’s gardens and decorations.
  • Check the treats. Parents should inspect collected sweets before younger children tuck in, particularly if there are food allergies.

🎃 Know a Great Halloween Street We Haven’t Listed?

Part of what makes Halloween in the Inner West so much fun is the local community getting involved.

If your street goes all out with pumpkins, cobwebs, skeletons and decorations, or you know of a fantastic trick-or-treating spot we’ve missed, we’d love to hear about it.

Email us at info@theinnerwestmums.com.au with the suburb and street name, and we may add it to our Halloween guide.

Happy haunting, Inner West Mums! 👻
