Signed up for the NSW Government’s Discover vouchers but not sure where to use them? This has been a hot topic of conversation in the Inner West Mums Facebook group this week. So we’ve done the research and come up with some great ways to use the vouchers.
The Dine and Discover vouchers are aimed at encouraging people to get out and about in support of the tourism, arts and dining sectors, all of which have been hit hard by Covid-related lockdowns and restrictions these past 12 months. The government has issued $100 in vouchers to all NSW residents aged 18 and over. There are two $25 dining vouchers, with many local cafes and restaurants signing up to the scheme. Plus the two $25 Discovery vouchers. These are all valid for use until June 2021.
In a recent thread in the Facebook group, IWM members recommended using the Discovery vouchers at one of the many animal parks in Sydney and surrounds. Taronga Zoo, Symbio Wildlife Park, Featherdale, Sydney Zoo, the Australian Reptile Park and Calmsley Hill farm all accept Discover vouchers. As does the Aquarium.
Some of these places will accept two vouchers per transaction, as long as they are from different people. That’s $50 off, so worth asking if it’s possible.
Another suggestion from the group was to use a voucher at the Australian National Maritime Museum, which is currently running the interactive Map It! exhibition.
If you’re considering supporting local inner west businesses with your Discover vouchers, we’ve gone through the database and come up with these suggestions. Some are for family outings, and others for date nights. Why should the kids have all the fun?!
