From Monday 2 March to Sunday 8 March, Women NSW is rolling out a statewide program for NSW Women’s Week 2026, celebrating the stories, strength and sharp brilliance of women across the state.
While many events are regional, there are some standouts much closer to home that will resonate with Inner West mums, working parents, side-hustlers, creatives and community connectors.
Here’s what’s worth pencilling in. ✍️

Thursday 5 – Saturday 7 March | Lakemba
Hosted by Canterbury City Community Centre, this market and workshop series champions CALD and low-income women building businesses from kitchen tables, spare rooms and late-night laptop sessions.
Expect stalls, mentoring, practical business skills and serious community energy.
If you’re running a side hustle between school drop-offs, dreaming about launching something new, or keen to support local women in business, this one feels particularly Inner West-coded.

Wednesday 4 March | Hyde Park, Sydney
History-loving mums, this one’s for you.
Held at the Anzac Memorial and presented by the NSW Office for Veterans Affairs, this event spotlights the women who shaped Australia’s naval history, from WWII trailblazers to today’s submariners.
It’s the kind of midweek cultural outing that pairs beautifully with a city coffee and a few hours of grown-up conversation.

Thursday 5 March | Darling Harbour
The headline event of the week, hosted at the International Convention Centre Sydney.
This is where the recipients of the NSW Women of the Year Awards 2026 are announced, celebrating leadership across community, business, advocacy and culture.
Even if you’re not attending, it’s worth following along. These stories tend to refill the motivational tank just when the school term chaos hits.
Saturday 7 March | Broadway
Presented by Inner City Legal Centre at the University of Technology Sydney, this one-day event focuses on legal education, empowerment and connection for trans women.
It’s a meaningful reminder that Women’s Week is about inclusion in action, not just hashtags.
Saturday 7 March | Bankstown
Hosted by Muslim Womens Welfare of Australia, this evening brings women together to break fast during Ramadan, with connection, reflection and a market pop-up woven in.
For Inner West mums, this is a beautiful opportunity to experience cultural celebration beyond our immediate postcode 💛

Sunday 8 March | 6pm | Centennial Park
Hosted by Women Want Adventure, this free community walk is exactly what it sounds like: women, fresh air, and a 6.6km loop around Centennial Park with plenty of chatting, laughing and collective “how is it already March?” energy.
The group meets outside The Greenhouse café on the south-western side of Centennial Park at 6pm for a 6.15pm start. It’s beginner-friendly, flexible, and you can walk as much or as little as suits.
Post-walk dinner is optional at the Clovelly Hotel for anyone keen to keep the conversation flowing.
Bring:
• Walking shoes
• Water bottle
• A friend, mum, sister, daughter
• Or just yourself
It’s free, all ages welcome, and you’ll need to register so organisers can gauge numbers.
For Inner West mums, this one feels like the perfect Sunday reset. Move your body. Meet new women. Mark International Women’s Day with something that fills your cup instead of emptying it. 💛
