From waterfront breakfasts and Italian feasts to porchetta, BBQ plates and a market where the kids can run around, here’s where to celebrate Dad on Sunday 6 September.
Father’s Day is one of those occasions where someone inevitably ends up doing the research: checking menus, finding somewhere the kids will eat, comparing prices and securing the booking.
So we’ve done that bit for you.
With Father’s Day falling on Sunday 6 September 2026, venues across the Inner West and nearby are putting on everything from harbourfront breakfasts and long Italian lunches to whole porchetta carved at the table and good old-fashioned pub feeds.
We’ve narrowed it down to seven family-friendly options actually doing something for Father’s Day, with enough variety to suit different dads, budgets and ages of kids.
Pick your favourite, book the table and consider one September job officially sorted.

Few Father’s Day breakfasts come with a backdrop quite like this.

It’s at the special-occasion end of the list, but a good option if grandparents are joining or you want to make a proper day of it.

This is the option for families whose idea of a successful lunch includes the children spending at least part of it somewhere other than directly beside the table.
Public House Petersham is serving a $42 Father’s Day BBQ plate with brisket, chorizo and sides, alongside its regular menu, with live music throughout the day and a Father’s Day raffle.
The real parent win is the sprawling backyard and dedicated kids’ play area, giving little ones somewhere to burn off some energy while Dad settles in.
Best for: Younger kids, relaxed dads and families who prefer a beer garden to a set menu

Just outside the Inner West, BrewDog earns its spot because it’s doing more than simply putting a Father’s Day special on the menu.
Dad can choose between a $37 Sunday roast or $35 mixed grill platter, while the kids get face painting from noon and games throughout the afternoon. There’s also live music from 12pm.
It’s an easy choice if you’d like lunch and entertainment taken care of in one booking.

Not every Father’s Day needs a set menu.
This year the Breakfast Point Spring Market lands on Father’s Day, bringing around 120 stalls, hot food, live entertainment, local performers and kids’ rides to the Village Green.
Grab lunch from the stalls, browse, let the kids have a run around and stay for as little or as long as everyone’s mood allows.

Cost: Free entry; food and rides additional
When: Sunday 6 September, 9am–3pm
