UPDATE: Glow at Sydney Zoo has been extended to June 18.
Sydney is hosting another twilight zoo experience this year, with Sydney Zoo running its inaugural Glow light festival in May.
Walk the zoo and explore the 50 light sculptures, then head into the Reptile and Nocturnal House to see what the lizards, snakes, goannas and spiders are up to.
There’ll be a tunnel of twinkling lights, an ice skating rink and ferris wheel. Kids will be given a special torch for the Secret UV Safari, tasked with following a map to discover secret animal pictures. There will be food trucks and a 4 Pines bar for refreshments, as well as entertainment.
If you weren’t able to get the tickets you wanted for Taronga Zoo’s popular Vivid event, or it’s more convenient to head west, Glow kicks off a few weeks before. It runs from May 13 to June 5, with tickets available for the following start times: 5.30pm, 6pm, 6.30pm, 7pm and 7.30pm. The zoo closes at 9.30pm.
Wild Lights at Taronga Zoo runs from May 27 to June 18, with two sessions, 5.30pm and 7.30pm.
Inner West Mums visited Sydney Zoo in 2020 and found it to be pram, wheelchair and mobility-scooter friendly, which may be a consideration when planning a visit. Here’s our write-up.
