Lambert Park Playground, located at the corner of Marion and Foster Streets, Leichhardt, is the latest in a series of parks and playgrounds across the Inner West to receive a substantial improvements.
The Inner West Council has invested $240K into creating a fun, safe and inclusive space for the local community.
The new playground space, set on lush artificial turf, features brand-new, exciting play equipment for young and older children. There are multiple slides, a playhouse for littlies, a sophisticated climbing structure, a roundabout and an in-ground trampoline.
Nature play elements include logs and timber balance beams. There are also inclusive elements, such as a nest-style swing, musical chimes and a multi-play unit.
In addition to the playground, there is plenty of space for kids to run around, as well as a hoop for ball games.
The park is well shaded by native mature trees. In addition, it features freshly planted trees and shrubs and new ground cover. A table and benches have been installed adjacent to the playground for ease of supervision. Lambert Park has fencing on three sides to keep little ones away from the busy Marion and Foster Streets.
At the playground entrance, alongside Lambert Park soccer field, you’ll find the newly created Matildas Wall of Support, a tribute to the Matildas soccer team, by mural artist Xander Zewe (Muralisto).
The playground is easily accessed by the 437 and 438 bus routes on Marion Street or the 445 on Flood Street. The Marion light rail stop is also just around the corner.
The nearest cafes are found just a block away at Leichhardt Marketplace or the popular Wayne’s Place at 132 Marion Street.
